Interview with Alex Low | @Alexander_Low | LinkedIn
In the latest of our Digital Leadership Associates profiles, we talk to Alexander Low, our LinkedIn, Sales Navigator and Account Based Intelligence expert, about his vision for social selling
Tell us a little about yourself and your background
I have been in sales for my entire career, inspired by my late father. I have seen the highs and lows the role can bring. This is what makes it such a dynamic role, each day and deal unique.
How has social selling evolved in the past 12 months?
Organisations are starting to understand that this is not a technology play, but a business transformation play. Technology plays a massive part, but it is how the technology fits into the 21st century sales process that matter most.
‘Serendipity’ is becoming a popular word in sales. What does it mean to you?
Inspired by Falon Fatemi at Node.io for me it is about something unexpected happening, from the least likely of places, which results in a positive outcome.
You’ve written a lot about account-based intelligence. Can you give us a quick definition?
Using data to direct your next sales play.
What are the top three things to consider when implementing an account-based intelligence strategy?
People, process and technology. Get the buy in of your people, then look at your process (think Toyota in the 80s and lean six sigma), and then the technology which will support and augment your approach.
Who has been your biggest inspiration professionally?
My best friend and sounding board, Ross Ashbourn. I can always rely on him to either pick me up when the chips are down or tell me when I am talking BS!
What was the best single piece of advice given to you at work?
If you make a mistake, no matter how big or small, just hold your hands up and say, sorry.
What does a successful day look like to you?
Without sounding like a cliché, that I have made a difference to someone.
What’s your secret super power?
My wife, Nicola!
