How to Get Away From the Pay and Benefits “Dutch Auction” When Recruiting

We’ve all been there, you are recruiting a candidate, they have come in through a recruiter and they want more money on their base to join. In effect, the discussion isn’t about the amazing your opportunity your company is, but a discussion on pay and benefits.

Why is This?

Traditionally, you get talent by using a recruiter. We use recruiters as they are supposed to cut through the crap staff and get through to the “passive candidates”. People, not looking for a job. You want these people as they tend to be higher performers and tend to stay longer. But, they will be expensive, plus the recruiter is pay a commission on how much base salary they can get.

So How Do we Get Away From this Recruitment Dutch Auction?

How about if we could cut out recruiters and could get the top talent to contact you direct?

While this wouldn’t eliminate the “Dutch Action” you have people wanting to work for you, because you are an exciting company, with a great culture and great people.

How Do You Get The Top Talent to Apply to You Direct?

If you think Facebook, Google, Apple; everybody wants to work there and they don’t have discussions about an extra days holiday or an increase in pay. Why? Because everybody wants to work there and they have created a vision of their culture on social.
