Why it’s Time to Stop the Profile Writing Scammers

It seems like a good deal, a get deal, we all know we need to get rid of that old CV style LinkedIn profile so why not get somebody to write it for us? We will then be a Social Seller, right? Wrong!

Social selling is all about mindset change and habit change a new LinkedIn Profile will do nothing for you. No more inbound, no more sales, totally zip, absolutely nada.

So if it changes nothing you don’t get anymore sales or anymore leads or meetings why would somebody pay for this?

Let’s look at what is social selling!

At this point I need to point out that social selling is not sending people inmails, or pitching to me over a connection request. This is just an old fashioned cold call, but on a social network. Cold calling, after all is where you interrupt somebody and broadcast your message, you have a short time to make a good impression. Spammers are doing it on social Judy like you do / did with a cold call.

Social selling is the reaction that us sellers need to take to the empowerment of the modern buyer.

Put yourself in the shoes of the buyer. We can sit in a cafe on a Saturday and decide to buy something. We search on the internet, educating ourselves as we go. We read articles, blogs, see what influencers are talking about. As we read, we understand more, understand our requirements and then understand who our short list is. We then make contact with our short list. This is called inbound. Buyers coming to you and having read your read your content is they have self selected you.

The problem is this, a profile written by a profile writer just does not help. Yep, you are or have totally wasted your money!

(If you have used a profile writer then go and ask for your money back!).

What does the modern seller need?

The modern buyer needs three things:-

  1. Buyer centric profile
  2. Strong network
  3. Buyer centric content

People say to us, but I don’t have the time. Really?

But you have time to call 100 people, leave 100 voice mails, that are never returned. You have time to write and send an email blast that is never opened. You have time to place an advert that nobody will read.

This is all about priorities.

Having

  1. Buyer centric profile
  2. Strong network
  3. Buyer centric content

Is how we prospect today, it’s time to make time for sellers to make time for these priorities and drop the time wasting, the inefficiency and ineffectiveness in prospecting.

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a profile written for you is a waste of time and it’s time these scammers stopped peddling this snake oil.
