Here at DLA we have one objective about our social selling programs: Quality. We have to see our customers getting a return on their investment.
We see so many social selling programs, which are actually just tick box exercises. Somebody thinks it’s a good idea, but there are no measures of success, governance, or corporate sponsorship.
Back to the biggest mistake
Having somebody or a company write people’s Linkedin profiles. (I’ve written in the past about people copying other LinkedIn profiles), but this is different.
I was told by a company that does this service that it’s highly lucrative.
The problem is that it does not move the needle. You are effectively ripping up pound notes / dollars / Euros. Why do this when there’s a far more effective alternative?
Social selling is a different way of working. It requires a change to the mindset of the past. Buyers (not sellers) now have the power. This requires us to do things differently.
We often get called into sort these programs out. The first question we ask is “why do you have a personal brand?”.
People don’t know. Money has been spent on LinkedIn profiles, but nobody knows why, nothing has changed.
Move the needle
Social isn’t being used to drive pipeline and close deals ahead of your completion. Money has been spent just to tick a box.
