We often see adverts for a Social Selling, in fact any subject area and the person is going to give you a masterclass.
We’ve all been on one of these training courses, you attend, the person tells you how clever they are and you go back to your desk and exhibit no changes in behaviour or habits.
Yes, you may have written down a few hints and tips, but you won’t be doing anything massively differently. It’s a bit like going to the gym. I know I need to lose weight and get fit, but one single day in the gym isn’t really going to make that much impact on me.
The world has changed with social media, turn on the TV and somebody has tweeted something and it’s being reported. Social has changed society. We may not like it, but the genie is out of the bottle.
We take these social attitudes to work with us. We expect to use social as part of our daily lives. This could be looking people up on social before we meet them too connecting or following people that will help us grow as individuals, often as part of a continue learning program.
Going on a social media masterclass won’t make us any better, the same as any masterclass we may have been on.
A masterclass is a transaction, it is not transformation.
Transformation requires that to be steps taken for us to under taken different behaviours and different habits.
Here at DLA Ignite we have used change management techniques to provide that bridge from transactional training to transformation training. We prefer to call it coaching rather than training, but hopefully you understand what I mean.
