I recently read an article about a Social Selling project that used LinkedIn ads.
Now let’s get this straight advertising in all it forms is not Social.
Facebook Ads, Linkedin Ads, in fact all adverting regardless of if it’s on a social network or not is not social, it’s advertising. It’s NOT social.
It’s like paying for a billboard at a football match and saying you’re a player in the team or a football manager.
Now let’s remember where advertising has come from, the 1930s. What you would do is interrupt people and broadcast your corporate message at them. That was in the good old days before the internet, mobile and social media. But now, people are just pissed off with all these interruptions, which is why now we use technology and legislation to block it.
Or put another way, don’t let the gurus fool you using advertising makes you look cool, it does not.
It makes you look, lazy and devoid of any ideas.
