Let’s be honest we all feel a bit like that.
Covid-19 has swept across the world with unprecedented speed. We have no idea what to do, yes there is expert opinion and guidance, but even the experts admit it’s all a bit of a best guess rather than facts.
Borders are closing, sporting events are being cancelled, restaurants/bars/clubs are being closed in some countries even a Wuhan-style curfew has been implemented in the hardest-hit places.
It’s no wonder you’re sitting at home wondering what the future holds for you, your family and for your business.
It seems like there’s no end in sight, but end it will. Perhaps a month from today, perhaps three months from today, perhaps longer, but end it will. We will adapt and conquer this. So what then?
Now is the time when you should to be laying down the roots for your future success while you have some time on your hands – you probably aren’t going in to the office or meeting customers so make the most of it. Sitting at home is an opportunity to start to use the remote working tools that you’ve been meaning to get to grips with – Zoom, RingCentral, MS Teams, Uberconference, Slack, Yammer…there are enough of them for you to choose from.
This is also a chance for you to raise your profile and do the things you’ve been meaning to do; get on to Twitter, refresh your linkedin profile, write some blogs and the countless other things that you haven’t had the time to do but know you probably should.
I am using this time to move through my network and have lots of introductory calls with new people, not necessarily prospects, just people who I can listen to them talk about what they do and for me to talk about what I do because you never know who you might be able to help or who might be able to help you. I’m also having lots of calls with people who I do know, but haven’t spoken to for a long time and it’s lovely to catch-up and hear their news.
The big issue though for you and for others is that self-isolating, social distancing, curfews can lead to mental heath issues around loneliness, low self esteem and depression driven by a feeling of helplessness and an inability to interact with others. So don’t feel like that…reach out.
At DLAignite we want to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem so you can reach out to any of us (we’re all here) and probably to all of your partners around the world too for a chat, to share some of what’s going on, for some advice about your profile or blogging or prospecting. This isn’t a sales pitch this is a helping hand. Many of the team have already posted that they are happy to give some free advice…we all are.
