I’m reading a number of articles and posts on LinkedIn from “social sellers” I’m really sorry to spoil the party but a selfie at a “social selling” event does not make you a social seller.

Let’s look at your LinkedIn profile …. and your Linkedin profile is a metaphor for many people who call themselves social selling experts.

Your summary is about what you sell, not your why. I can learn nothing about you, what inspires you, what makes you tick. It’s a pitch, this isn’t social selling it’s selling on social.

You have only blogged twice, the last time was in November 2018 and that was a sales pitch. Again, you are not demonstrating your expertise, you are just selling. Nothing so far enables to call yourself a social seller.

In terms of your activity, you spend all your time promoting your posts. When will you share the love like a social seller would?

Your job history is sparse, I can only assume, you couldn’t be bothered to fill it in. current job is a sales pitch for your company. The other jobs are what you did. No story, what you learned. This does not make me think you realise what being a social seller actually means.

Your Endorsements are bland and probably even the ones that LinkedIn generated for you. No endorsements for social selling, or in fact any thing about social. I guess your friends and colleagues don’t think you should be endorsed for these subjects.

You have received on two recommendations and these were over two years ago. I’m guessing you haven’t done anything that anybody could give you Recommendations about, otherwise you would have them? You call yourself a social seller, so you know this well!

In the section on your connection details, there is no telephone number, what happens if I want to call you? There is no Twitter address, so I assume you don’t have one. This is really restricting your ability to talk to people about social if you only are on LinkedIn. For example, LinkedIn is only 30% of a person’s social profile.

Anybody who calls themselves a social seller have to be a “high water mark” here are some great examples:-
